Every brand on the market continuously strives to get better. Whether it’s nutrition, engineering, construction, or otherwise, any industry is saturated with options, and you must be one of the best in order to survive.
Such is the case with Stellantis, a global auto manufacturer, with many brands under its belt, including Jeep, Dodge, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Maserati, Ram, and many others. Its newest endeavor, FaSTLAne 2030, addresses the new Stellantis corporate plan for the US and global markets, in its attempt to accelerate growth and profit in this ever-evolving industry.
What Is FaSTLAne 2030?
FaSTLAne 2030 is a plan dedicated to improving the legacy of the global Stellantis brand. It’s a multi-billion-dollar, five-year plan targeting the company’s potential for growth and profit, with the hopes of catapulting the brand to new levels of success in the automotive industry.
Through this six-prong plan, Stellantis seeks to adopt an even more customer-centric approach to its business model. After all, the customer is the heart of any business, and it’s important to put them first at all times. This is exactly what Stellantis is working diligently to achieve, thus driving profit and growth after a few unsteady years.
With an automaker as well-rounded as Stellantis, it’s no secret that its family of brands is quite diverse, appealing to varying demographics. From hard workers interested in tough trucks to those seeking out ultimate luxury, there’s a brand under Stellantis’ umbrella that will appeal to anyone. This is why customer satisfaction is the key to the company’s plan for enormous growth.
How It Benefits Consumers
So, what does the customer get out of all of this? Well, better service, better products, and an all-around better experience with this superior brand. Stellantis has already shown its strength and excellence in the US automotive industry, with brands like Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram. Now, it plans to further elevate the customer experience and its products.
Six Pillars of FaSTLAne 2030
Stellantis has unveiled exactly how it plans to execute this plan. It contains six core pillars to not only improve the customer experience but also to solidify Stellantis as a leader in the industry. From putting its customers first to improving vehicle engineering and design, Stellantis has lofty, but attainable, goals.
Pillar #1: Sharper Brand Management
Stellantis has quite a versatile portfolio of brands that span the auto industry. This can get difficult to manage, unless you have a plan in place, which FaSTLAne 2030 makes its number one priority. Through overhauling its management strategy, Stellantis plans to focus on avoiding unnecessary spending and allocating money where it makes sense: products that make the most money.
This means that in the next five years, Stellantis plans on unveiling over 60 new vehicles and 50 revitalized models. In addition, the brand plans to include 29 battery electric vehicles (BEV) in the mix to further execute its mission for a cleaner way to travel. The company also plans on unveiling 15 plug-in hybrids (PHEV) and 24 hybrid vehicles, making its electrified arsenal quite vast.
Stellantis has evaluated its brands and chosen which will be the focus of its plan. These include Jeep and Ram in the US and FIAT and Peugeot in Europe. These brands have proven to be high-profit brands, which means Stellantis will allocate more money and effort to continue to improve these popular brands.
Pillar #2: Investing in Improvements
In order to get better, you must be willing to improve, and this can be achieved by making an investment in yourself. Through investments in global platforms, powertrains, and technologies, Stellantis seeks to improve its offerings, thus improving the customer experience.
Investments will focus on three global vehicle platforms that are modular by design. A new STLA One platform is planned to improve the driving experience and competitiveness in the industry. Powertrains will benefit from diversity, with customers being able to choose between gas, hybrid, PHEV, and BEV models, instead of limiting them in how they move forward.
Technology is also getting an overhaul, as Stellantis focuses on improving the everyday driving experience. Through STLA Brain, Stellantis’ proprietary computer architecture, STLA SmartCockpit, its new vehicle interface, and STLA AutoDrive, a semi-autonomous driving system, drivers will be able to enjoy a whole new version of Stellantis vehicles.
Pillar #3: Partnerships That Work
Not every company complements the other, and this is completely normal. What Stellantis is working to achieve is building partnerships with some of the best brands in the business to further elevate its presence in the industry.
From partnering with new industry giants to continuing to build relationships with its existing associates like Jaguar Land Rover, Stellantis understands that it’s better to work together. Whether it’s architecture or software, AI or battery technology, Stellantis is prepared to work with some of the best teams and firms in these industries to further improve its offerings.
Pillar #4: Optimized Manufacturing
With more vehicles planned to be released, the need for more efficient manufacturing is a given. In the US, this means production will increase, improving capacity utilization by 80% by 2030. With more volume and more efficient manufacturing, Stellantis seeks to work smarter and build upon its strengths in this area.
Pillar #5: Excellent Execution
In order for this plan to work, execution is key. Stellantis plans to focus on quality, speed, and efficiency so that more models can be released that are of the highest quality to meet the needs of drivers everywhere.
Product development will accelerate with a 24-month vehicle development cycle, as opposed to the typical 40-month cycle. Quality continues to be something that the brand takes very seriously, and FaSTLAne 2030 makes this a top priority as well. AI will also play a vital role in this plan to streamline various business processes for a stronger, faster turnaround.
Pillar #6: Regional & Local Team Building
The automotive industry caters to local demographics everywhere. Rural areas thrive when there are capable trucks available. Cities work better with small and agile commuters cruising down the streets. By building local and regional teams that excel, Stellantis will be able to create vehicles that meet the demands of local travelers even better than before.
This is something that FaSTLAne 2030 plans to focus on. Decisions have been moved to the areas where Stellantis’ brands thrive rather than being centralized in a global headquarters. This way, the company can get to know the customers more, thus making products that better meet their needs, such as the new Ram Rumble Bee.
Here in North America, Stellantis plans to expand market coverage by 50%, offering 11 new vehicles and 35% more volume. Seven of these models will fall under the $40K mark, while two models will be under the $30K price point. Cost competitiveness is planned to improve through the company’s Value Creation Program, making it easier for more drivers to be able to afford high-quality vehicles.
What FaSTLAne 2030 Means for Us
In the end, consumers will be able to enjoy more from the iconic Stellantis brands in the years to come. Not only will drivers be able to choose from a greater selection of models, but they’ll also be able to enjoy better pricing, better quality, and better features to meet their needs and exceed their expectations on the road.
This is a great example of how, even if you’re already a top contender in your industry, it always pays to get better. Putting in the work, evaluating what works and what doesn’t, and focusing on your customers will always lead to growth. This is something that more automakers should strive to accomplish, so kudos to Stellantis for putting this plan into action.
