Two Great Used Vans at Affordable Prices

Chrysler currently produces two minivans that are dominating the marketplace, the Voyager and the Pacifica. The Pacifica replaced the venerable Chrysler Town & Country for the 2017 model year and remains the flagship of the brand. People have taken notice, with the Pacifica being the most awarded minivan for the last four years. It is a Top Safety Pick for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and was named a Best Buy by Consumer Guide. In addition, Cars.com named the Pacifica 2019 Family Car of the Year. These awards simply echo what consumers already know, that a used Chrysler Pacifica is a top choice for someone with the need for a van.

The 2019 Pacifica runs on a 3.6-liter V-6 gas engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission that produces 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. This gives you incomparable performance that you wouldn’t expect in a minivan. Even with all this acceleration, the front-wheel drive Pacifica won’t hurt you at the gas pump, with 19 miles per gallon in city driving and 28 miles per gallon when driving on the highway.

Chrysler also introduced a hybrid version of the Pacifica at the same time as the 2017 rollout, giving you the option of even better fuel economy on this model. The Hybrid Pacifica combines the same 3.6-liter V-6 engine on the standard model with a pair of electric motors running off a 16-kWh battery. Chrysler replaced the 9-speed automatic transmission with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that constantly adjusts the engine speed to driving conditions to give improved performance and efficiency. This results in an EPA-estimated 82 MPGe for the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. While a used model hybrid will probably cost more than the standard model, you will save more in the long run on gasoline.

Some folks prefer a more economical vehicle, and that is why Chrysler introduced the Voyager in time for the 2020 model year. The Voyager sports the same design, engine, and drivetrain as the Pacifica but has fewer design features to provide an even more affordable minivan. While this specific minivan will only just be making its way onto used lots, we recommend trying one out if you see it.

Both of the used Chrysler minivans have plenty of space for you, your passengers, and your belongings. They each seat up to 8 passengers, with a full 165 cubic feet of passenger space. The third row has a very comfortable 36.5 inches of legroom, so no one will be fighting over who gets to ride shotgun. In addition, the Pacifica and Voyager have 32.3 cubic feet of cargo space that can easily expand up to 140.5 inches when the rear two rows of seats are folded down.

Chrysler makes safety and security the top priority, which is why it has equipped the Voyager and Pacifica with plenty of safety features. The Voyager sports an excellent airbag system, as well as an available blind spot monitoring system, rear cross path detection, and ParkSense rear park assist with autostop. Make sure to check the specifications on the used Voyager model you are considering. The Pacifica makes many of these optional features standard, such as blind spot monitoring. It also adds available adaptive cruise control, 360-degree surround-view camera, and full-speed forward collision warning with active braking.

A Used Luxury Sedan Like No Other

When you think of affordable luxury, the first car that should come to mind is the Chrysler 300. This midsize sedan was first introduced to the public in time for the 2005 model year and, following a redesign in 2011, has been one of the most popular affordable luxury sedans on the market. The 2011 Chrysler 300 gives you a choice of two excellent engines.

The standard is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 that produces 292 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque. Models with this engine give you a choice of either all-wheel drive for great traction or rear-wheel drive for improved fuel efficiency and acceleration. The rear-wheel drive model actually achieves 19 miles per gallon in city driving and 30 miles per gallon on the highway. The other engine is a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 with an impressive 363 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque. Both engines feature an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission to put you in full control of your Chrysler 300. Some of these specs have gotten better with more recent models, though, so you may find more power under the hood of a later model 300.

Buying a used Chrysler 300 will give you a stylish and luxurious sedan that will cost a fraction of comparable sedans from other automakers. This features a very roomy rear seat with 16.3 cubic feet of space in its trunk. The newer Chrysler 300 also comes with the Chrysler Uconnect infotainment system on an 8.4-inch color touchscreen. Depending on the year of your used Chrysler 300, you will get plenty of features like Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and SiriusXM satellite radio.

Two Used Chrysler Vehicles With Great Features and Affordability

One way to really save money when buying a used car is to focus on a model that has either been recently redesigned or discontinued. Automakers are constantly updating their cars, vans, trucks, and SUVs. Sometimes, these can be incremental changes, like a new body color or an extra feature on an infotainment system. Other times, it could entail a full redesign, marking a new generation in the life cycle of the specific model. This is the case with the Chrysler 300, with models built from 2011 onward being considered the second generation, while those from 2010 and before are the first generation.

Also, automakers will often decide to stop building a certain model because it failed to find a market, even if it is an otherwise worthwhile and dependable vehicle. If you buy a used model that is either from a prior generation or that was discontinued, you will often get a great deal on the model. That is because the older generation and discontinued models lose a bit of their resale value due to being more obsolete than current models, allowing you to buy a better car for less money.

Two models that Chrysler discontinued in recent years are the Chrysler 200 compact sedan and the venerable Chrysler Town & Country minivan. The Chrysler 200 was last built for the 2017 model year, so you should be able to find these on the used car market. The 2017 Chrysler 200 featured two engines and a choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The base engine is a 2.4-liter I-4 gas engine with 184 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. When paired with a front-wheel drivetrain, this engine provides drivers with a great fuel economy of 23 miles per gallon in the city and 36 miles per gallon on the highway. The premium engine is a 3.6-liter V-6 that produces 295 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, giving better acceleration with a slight diminution of fuel economy.

The Chrysler Town & Country was one of the models that built the minivan market. Dating back to the 1990 model year, the Town & Country went through five generations, with this minivan last being produced in time for 2016. By that point, the Town & Country was offering many high-end features like leather seats, a rear-entertainment system with a Blu-ray player, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The engine is a 3.6-liter V-6 with 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque that is surprisingly fuel-efficient. Drivers can get an estimated 17 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highway. All fifth generation Town & Country models are front-wheel drive.
