Escape From the Ordinary With the All-New 2020 Ford Escape

The 2020 Ford Escape is all-new, with a complete redesign that will make this the compact crossover SUV ready to handle the challenges of a new decade. This marks the fourth generation of the Escape line and comes with the return of a hybrid engine option, which is something for the environmentally conscious among us. Ford has designed the new 2020 Escape with an eye towards increased power and acceleration, while keeping its focus on what attracts us to this sporty SUV: making driving fun.

To those of us of a certain age, the name “Escape” makes us think of an old song about a guy who liked Piña Coladas, as that was the actual title of Rupert Holmes’s hit song. But there is nothing retro or kitsch about the new 2020 Ford Escape. This is a car designed for the new decade, with all the features and benefits one has come to expect from Ford Motor Company. And with five trim packages to choose from, there is sure to be an Escape model for you.

The Five New Escape Models

Customers of the 2020 Ford Escape will be able to choose from five different packages. The base model Escape S has a very affordable MSRP of $24,885. If you want to a little upgrade on your car’s features, then buy or lease an Escape SE, with an MSRP of $27,095. Go green and choose the Escape SE Sport Hybrid, with an MSRP of $28,255, which won’t cost you too much green. The sporty Escape SEL has an MSRP of $29,255. And the top-of-the-line Escape Titanium has an MSRP of $33,400.

An All-New Engine For an All-New Escape

The base model Escape S and the Escape SE feature Ford’s 1.5 liter EcoBoost engine, which has brand new Auto Start-Stop technology. This will automatically lower emissions and boost fuel economy by stopping the engine when you hit the break in city traffic, and then seamlessly restart it as soon as your foot hits the gas pedal. Automatic 8-speed transmission and electric power-assist steering are standard on all 2020 Ford Escape models. An engine block heater is available for an upgrade price if you want to warm your car up on those colder days.

Want a little more power? The Escape SEL offers an optional 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine, also with Auto Start-Stop technology. The Escape SE Sport Hybrid has a Hybrid 2.5 liter IVCT Atkinson-Cycle I-4 engine. It offers a smooth combination of gas and electric engines to provide great power and exceptional fuel efficiency while helping to protect the environment. The Escape Titanium gives owners the option of choosing between the Hybrid 2.5 liter engine and the 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine. I know, some choices will not be easy to make.

The All-New Escape Puts a Premium on Performance

The new 2020 Ford Escape not only looks great, it drives great too. The Escape S’s 1.5 liter EcoBoost engine is turbocharged and produces 180 horsepower with 177 lb-ft. Drivers should achieve 27 mpg in city driving and 33 mpg in highway driving, for an overall exceptional 30 mpg, according to recent information from the EPA. Drivers who choose to go with either of the two hybrid options will get even better gas mileage on their Escape. In addition, the redesign is more aerodynamic than previous Escape models, providing more power and speed than prior versions of the Escape, with much better gas mileage. All models feature five different drive modes: normal, eco mode, sport mode, slippery mode, and deep snow/sand mode. This puts you in control of the driving, choosing the mode that best matches the driving conditions you are facing.

Four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking (ABS) system are standard on the all-new 2020 Ford Escape. The Escape features front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is available as an upgrade. All models of the 2020 Ford Escape feature Ford’s Curve Control, which electronically engages the ABS system with throttle reduction, helping prevent the car from skidding on a wet curve. Traction control and electric parking brake are also standard on all models of the Escape.

A Compact crossover SUV With a Luxurious Interior

Don’t let the size of the all-new Escape fool you. You know the phrase good things come in small packages? The all-new Escape delivers on this promise. The interior is roomy and luxurious for you and up to four other passengers. The front row features 40” of headroom, 42.4” of legroom, and 57.6” of shoulder room. But don’t feel guilty about your rear-seat passengers. They will enjoy 39.3” of headroom, 40.7” of legroom, and 56” of shoulder room, which is plenty of room for everyone.

All seats on the Escape are a very pleasant cloth, with upgraded materials available on the SEL and Titanium models. Need some additional storage space? The rear row folds down, providing extra space for your hatchback when you need to move some larger objects. For entertainment, the Escape S features an AM/FM 6-speaker stereo with FordPass Connect, allowing you to stay connected with your Escape through your smartphone and a mobile 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. With all these features, you will never want to leave the comfort of your own car.

Improved Safety is Standard on the All-New Escape

Ford has made safety a standard feature on all models in the all-new Escape line. The 2020 Ford Escape features dual-stage driver and front passenger airbags (dubbed the “Personal Safety System”), a driver knee airbag, and front-seat mounted side airbags. The Escape features a Safety Canopy system in the unlikely event of a rollover or side impact. Ford’s SOS Post Crash Alert System and a tire pressure monitoring system are standard on all Escape models.

Think that is enough for safety? Guess again. Ford has put its Co-Pilot360 system into all models of its Escape. This features the latest smart technology to keep you and your passengers safe. It includes a rearview camera, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping system, and auto high-beam headlamps. It is like having your own supercomputer as a co-pilot so you can focus on and enjoy driving your new Ford Escape.

Escape to a World of Color and Innovation

Giving you another difficult decision to make, the all-new 2020 Ford Escape comes in ten different eye-catching colors. Choose from rapid red, star white, velocity blue, Sedona orange, magnetic, Oxford white, ingot silver, dark Persian green, desert gold, and agate black. I told you that Ford wouldn’t make it easy for you to make up your mind. Whichever color you choose, you will look great driving around in your brand new Escape.

Ford has tapped into the latest technology in innovating its brand-new Ford Escape. The Escape S, the base model, features all of this, from the safety of Co-Pilot360 to the fuel efficiency imparted by Auto Start-Stop technology, with FordPass Connect, Curve Control, EcoBoost, and all the other features in between. Starting at an MSRP of just $24,885, this is an absolute bargain. The new Escape’s sporty, aerodynamic, and futuristic look shows what is on the outside is also on the inside. Test drive an all-new 2020 Ford Escape and see why this is the compact crossover SUV for you and your lifestyle.
