Anticipation Grows for the 2022 Honda Civic

Anticipation has been growing for the launch of the new 2022 Honda Civic coming to your 2022 Honda Civic dealer soon. We’re here to provide you with a buyer’s guide to this highly anticipated new model. Now in its 11th generation, the newest Honda will be available in four trims: LX, Sport, EX, and Touring. For this latest model, Honda’s designers have added a redesigned body, an updated, improved interior cabin, additional safety features, and better fuel economy and performance.

Exterior

At first glance, you’ll notice that the new 2022 Civic is an aesthetically pleasing model with a more traditional reserved integrated design. It is also a bit longer than previous generations. That’s because Honda engineers stretched its wheelbase by a little over an inch and widened its rear track by half an inch. Why does this matter? This small increase in size actually makes the interior feel even roomier than before.

Take the new Civic out for a test drive, and you’ll immediately notice the smooth ride, a reduction in ride harshness, and improved handling. The 2022 version of the Civic will also debut front suspension improvements to the MacPherson strut and updated its electronic power steering system. What’s most noticeable is the hood, which is elongated because the A-pillar bases are shifted by almost two inches toward the rear. Customers will have a bevy of exciting exterior colors for their new 2022 Civic, including Aegean Blue, Crystal Black Pearl, Lunar Silver, Platinum White Pearl, and Rallye Red, as well as two new colors: Meteorite Gray and Morning Mist.

Interior

Step inside the new 2022 Honda Civic, and you’ll find a more refined, elegant cabin design. You’ll feel a high sense of quality and a better-designed driver-friendly cabin. The streamlined dashboard is easier to read with its clean horizontal design, and the switches and controls offer precise readings. Honda’s engineers are proud of the increased visibility gained in the 2022 model. Drivers will have improved visibility due to the model’s low hood, cowl, and hidden windshield wipers. Drivers will not be distracted by odd reflections on the inside of the windshield due to the dashboard’s low, flat design. Civic designers also help drivers get a better view of oncoming traffic from a 90-degree angle due to a large space between the front windshield pillar and side mirrors.

If you purchase the top Touring model, you’ll receive an all-digital instrument display. The driver and front seat passenger will appreciate the wider center console and large bin to keep your smartphone, keys, and other important items handy to reach and safe. A boost toward better functionality allows drivers to enjoy wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. Honda designers have included a touch of texture throughout the interior with a full-width honeycomb-patterned trim where the air vents are hidden.

Your passengers will enjoy the newly-designed and infinitely more comfortable front bucket chairs. Backseat passengers are given more head and legroom. For that precious cargo, such as groceries, suitcases, and other gear, the new 2022 Civic offers up to 14.8 cubic feet of storage space, which is a touch less than the previous model’s 15.1 cubic feet, but the difference is pretty negligible overall.

Safety

Honda has always taken great pride in being known for its outstanding safety features on its vehicles. The new 2022 Civic is brimming with standard safety and driver-assist technology with its Honda Sensing technology. You’ll drive with confidence knowing that you have Lane Departure Warning, a Lane Keeping Assist System, and a Road Departure Mitigation System to keep you safely on the road and in your lane. With many obstacles that can come up in daily driving, Honda has also put a focus on protecting you from collisions whenever possible with the Collision Mitigation Braking System and the Blind Spot Information System.

In case of a collision, Honda has strengthened the side pillars and built the car’s structure more rigid. Furthermore, a new driver and front passenger airbag design will help to protect head and neck areas in a front collision. It will help to lessen brain injuries and head rotation in some crashes.

Fuel Economy

Now that you’ve had a chance to inspect the exterior and interior of the new 2022 Civic let’s see what’s under the hood. A selection of two four-cylinder engines is available. The Civic LX and Sport models are propelled by a 2.0-liter I-4 with 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque. The more upscale EX and Touring models are equipped with a 1.5 liter turbocharged I-4 with 180 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. Due to some minor engineering to the motors, the 2022 Honda Civic will provide one to two additional miles per gallon. Honda has announced that the new Civic will only be offered as a front-wheel drive vehicle with no all-wheel drive in the future.

For the new 2022 Civic, Honda has either matched or exceeded fuel economy in each of its trims. At its best, the 2022 Civic provides drivers with an estimated 33 miles per gallon in the city and 42 miles per gallon on the highway. Even the lowest estimate of 30 miles per gallon city and 37 miles per gallon highway is still excellent and exceeds that of the previous year.

Technology

Honda engineers have worked hard to make the new 2022 Civic as tech-savvy as possible by equipping the vehicle with smartphone integration, in-car features, and safety driver assist technology. The 2022 Civic will come standard with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display. For those who choose to purchase the high-end Touring model, they will be rewarded with a 10.2-inch all digital gauge display. This display, which can be customized using steering wheel controls, holds all necessary information, including a trip computer, audio selections, and the status of your Honda Sensing safety systems. Touring drivers will also receive a nine-inch screen for the infotainment system and a superior 12-speaker Bose sound system. While all Civic models will support Apple Carplay and Android Auto systems, Touring drivers will gain extra convenience with a wireless smartphone charging connection.
