Red 2017 Nissan Sentra below $20,000

2017 Nissan Sentra under $20,000

Nissan has done it again by offering a sedan for well under $20,000 with the base model Sentra starting out at an MSRP of $16,990. Nissan offers a huge variety of Sentra’s – from the base model to the NissanSentra “S” to the Nissan Sentra NISMO, with a $9,000 price difference. Let’s take a look at the Sentra for most of us.

The Base Model Sentra “S”

The base model has everything a sedan should have, starting out with a MRA8DE 1.8-liter DOHC 16-valve 4 cylinder. This puts out 130 horsepower and 128 ft-lb of torque, but honestly who needs more than that to get the kids home from soccer? The CVTCS or continuously variable valve timing system on the intake and exhaust valves comes standard, as well as the Nissan direct ignition system, and the electronic drive-by-wire throttle. The front wheel drive has a 6-speed manual transmission standard. The Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) is an additional add-on. Four-wheel ABS with EBD or electronic brake-force distribution is standard as well with brake assist.

P205/55/HR16 size tires cover a rim size of 16×6.5 aluminum alloy rims. Smart auto halogen headlights and dual power outside mirrors are also standard. A rear spoiler is optional.

How is the Interior?

A Bluetooth hands-free phone system keeps the driver from being distracted while driving. An integrated key that has a remote keyless entry and trunk release is standard. Power locks, doors, windows, and AC with an in-cabin microfilter come with any model Sentra.

A steering wheel mounted cruise control with illuminated controls make driving more comfortable. Silver cloth interior is standard.

Infotainment

The 2017 Nissan Sentra has an AM/FM/CD four-speaker sound system. There is a USB port for an iPod or another MP3 device. Speed sensitive volume control and a steering wheel mounted audio control help you enjoy your drive.

Sentra’s Safety

The Sentra has a list of standard safety features. The Nissan AABS or Advanced Air Bag System is a set of dual supplemental front air bags, as well as roof mounted, curtain side-impact supplemental air bags.

The Sentra has Vehicle Dynamic Control and traction control for keeping on the road.

Nissan’s zone body construction creates safe front and rear crumple zones for passenger safety in the event of a collision. A tire pressure monitoring system is also a standard feature for passenger and driver safety.

EPA Fuel Economy

The Sentra has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 35 mpg highway and 27 mpg city for the 6-speed manual transmission. If the optional Xtronic CVT transmission is employed, the fuel economy increases to 37 mpg highway and 29 mpg city respectively.

Thoughts?

The 2017 Nissan Sentra is a great car for the right price. A brand new base model vehicle for under $17,000 is a good starting point for anybody, family or not. The look of the vehicle is nice and Nissan adds a lot of safety and creature comforts standard even in their base models.

Thinking of buying a new sedan? Consider the 2017 Nissan Sentra.
