Whether It’s Work or Play, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT Has You Covered

Full-size trucks have become the most popular vehicle class in America, with the top three best-selling models being pickup trucks in 2021. More and more family drivers have discovered the benefits of trucks, as these pickups provide capabilities that other vehicle classes can’t compete with. Also, trucks are just fun to drive. As a result, automakers have been designing special editions and trim levels to suit the needs of family drivers. These include creature comforts like advanced infotainment systems and leather interiors.

While pickups have grown more adaptable for everyday use, this has sometimes come at the expense of towing and hauling capability. Fortunately, this is not the case with the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT. Striking a balance between work and life is never easy, especially when designing a full-size pickup truck. Chevrolet has gotten the balance right with the LT trim on the 2022 Silverado 1500. This truck gives you the towing and hauling capability you need for your job while delivering the practical features you need when taking the family out on the weekend.

Room for the Whole Family, and More

Getting the entire family into the truck can sometimes be a chore, especially if you are planning to use your pickup for work and need space for tools and gear, as well as exceptional towing and hauling capacity. The Silverado 1500 LT delivers on all counts. There is plenty of room for everyone without having to compromise on towing and hauling. In fact, the Silverado 1500 LT can seat up to 6 passengers comfortably and has a 40/20/40 split-bench seat in the front that allows you to be flexible with your passenger volume and cargo space.

Chevy offers two cab styles on the 2022 Silverado 1500 LT; a double cab or crew cab. Both have four doors and can seat the same amount of passengers, but the crew cab is larger than the double cab. No matter which model you choose, you’ll get plenty of space in the first row, with 43 inches of headroom, 44.5 inches of legroom, 66 inches of shoulder room, and 61.2 inches of hip room. The key difference between the double and crew cab is that the latter model has slightly more legroom, shoulder room, and headroom.

For example, while the double cab gives you 35.2 inches of legroom, the crew cab expands this to a roomy 43.4 inches. As for headroom and shoulder room, you get a bit more in the crew cab, with 40.1 inches of headroom and 65.2 inches of shoulder room, compared to 39.8 inches of headroom and 64.8 inches of shoulder room in the double cab. So, if you have older kids or coworkers to tote around, you might opt for the crew cab to give them some extra space to stretch out. Both models feature assist handles, so even your smallest kids can hoist themselves up into your Silverado 1500 LT.

The Power to Get the Job Done

Chevy has equipped the 2022 Silverado 1500 LT with an efficient and powerful engine that will help you get the job done, whether that’s towing and hauling on the job site or driving the kids to soccer practice. The standard option is a turbocharged 2.7-liter I-4 gas engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Improved for the 2022 model year, this engine now delivers an impressive 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. This is powerful enough to tow up to 9,200 lbs if you opt for a double cab with rear-wheel drive on your Silverado 1500 LT. It is also surprisingly efficient, giving you an estimated 19 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway.

If you want a little more power, you can choose between two additional gas engine options for the 2022 Silverado 1500 LT. The 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 provides 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque and has the ability to tow up to 11,200 lbs. For rear-wheel drive models, it gets an estimated 16 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway. The 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 option pushes the capability even further with a whopping 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque and an estimated fuel efficiency of 15 MPG in the city and 20 MPG on the highway.

For those who prefer diesel fuel, the Silverado has you covered. An available 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel six-cylinder packs in even more power with a towing capacity of up to 13,300 lbs. This engine delivers an impressive 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. The turbo-diesel engine is also exceptionally fuel-efficient, providing up to 23 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway in rear-wheel drive. All upgraded engine options come paired with a responsive 10-speed automatic transmission.

When it comes to hauling cargo, you’ll find few pickup trucks that can compete with the 2022 Silverado 1500 LT. This truck can carry up to 2,270 lbs of cargo in its bed, which is more than enough to get the job done right. If you choose a double cab, you’ll get a standard bed with 71.7 cu.ft. of space for your things. If you opt for the crew cab, you can choose between the standard bed and a short bed, which has 62.9 cu.ft. of space.

Standard Technology Features for Safety and Performance

Chevrolet has leveraged its dedication to technological innovation to provide the 2022 Silverado 1500 LT with plenty of standard safety features to keep your family protected and an advanced infotainment system to keep all the kids entertained. The Silverado 1500 LT features the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium System on a 13.4-inch diagonal color touchscreen. This is Chevy’s most advanced infotainment system with features like Google built-in and easy access to your favorite apps. In addition, you can leave the annoying cables at home thanks to Bluetooth connectivity, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The standard 6-speaker audio system can fill your cab with your favorite music; however, we can’t guarantee that you’ll be able to agree on what to listen to in your truck during road trips.

The 2022 Silverado 1500 LT also comes standard with the Chevy Safety Assist suite of driver assistance technologies. These include forward collision alert and automatic emergency braking, which will alert you to an imminent collision and help you avoid it or reduce the impact by applying the truck’s emergency brakes. This will also work if the system detects pedestrians in your truck’s path. Lane keep assist with lane departure warning will let you know if your Silverado 1500 LT is drifting out of your lane and will even use slight steering adjustments to get you back on the straight and narrow. The Chevy Safety Assist on the Silverado 1500 LT even includes hitch guidance with an HD rear vision camera to make hooking a trailer up to your truck safer and easier than ever. With all these safety features, you’ll be protected in your Silverado 1500 LT, whether on the job site or enjoying a night on the town.
