What We Know So Far About the 2024 Chevy Equinox

We all know what it’s like to be in a crowded, cramped space—and it’s even worse when that space is mobile. If you have a large family that often travels together, sometimes it seems like you’ll never reach your destination.

Chevrolet wants to change that, providing you with the best of family vehicles: the 2024 Chevy Equinox, with enough room for everyone to stretch out and bring all the items that a growing family needs—snacks, drinks, diaper bags, duffels, backpacks, books, tablets, etcetera.

Safety is one of the most prominent features of the newest Equinox, from standard features to those available at higher trim levels, along with practical characteristics like excellent fuel economy. Have you been searching for a new family vehicle? Curious about what Chevy has to offer? Then you’ll want to check out the 2024 Equinox.

Sizeable Cargo Space

One of the main features a growing family looks for is, of course, an abundant cargo area. Whether you regularly fill the trunk with groceries, sports gear, beach fixtures, or holiday presents, the Equinox is equal to the task with 29.9 cu.ft. available for you to work with.

You can extend that space if you put the back seats down, making room for those larger presents, the camping gear, new appliances, or a holiday tree. You can easily fold the back seats down for a surprising 63.9 cu.ft. of cargo space.

Estimated Fuel Economy

Another practical feature of the Equinox that will appeal to parents and guardians of growing families is its excellent mileage. Having to stop for potty breaks, refueling, more potty breaks, stretches, and yet more potty breaks can grow old quickly, especially if you know that every pit stop means you’re that much closer to needing another pit stop to fill up.

In front-wheel drive, you’ll get an awesome 26 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway; in all-wheel drive, you’ll get a still-excellent 24 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway. With the 2024 Equinox, you’ll be able to go farther between refueling—even if you do need to keep stopping for potty breaks. You’ll save money that can be spent elsewhere, like on snacks, souvenirs, or earplugs.

Chevy Safety Assist

Along with practical features, the 2024 Equinox has plenty of safety features. Active safety features are as bountiful as in other vehicles, but the Equinox has more in the passive collection of the Chevy Safety Assist suite of driver assistance features, which work together to ensure that you and your family are safe while on the road, in the parking lot, and in the driveway.

The Chevy Safety Assist suite is comprised of Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Front Pedestrian Braking, Following Distance Indicator, IntelliBeam High Beam Assist, and an HD Rear Vision Camera. The best news about all of these quality safety features? They’re standard across all trim levels.

Available HD Surround Vision

If you’ve driven a newer vehicle in the last few years, you know that many of them come with a rearview camera so that you have an extra eye on the space behind you as you back up, as well as on those difficult-to-see spaces where pedestrians may suddenly appear. The 2024 Equinox one-ups these newer vehicles by offering a system that can see all the way around your vehicle, from blind spot to side to front and back.

The HD Surround Vision is a simulated overhead view of everything around you, leaving no inch of vantage beyond your scrutiny. If you like the extra security of having every side covered, you may elect to upgrade to the LT, RS, or Premier trims of your 2024 Chevy Equinox.

Connected Navigation

One of the best features from the past two decades is built-in navigation. You no longer need a paper map from the glove compartment, instructions printed out online, or an app on your phone propped on your lap. Instead, you can hand over the difficult task to a vehicle’s navigation system.

The 2024 Chevy Equinox is available with connected navigation if you’re choosing an LT, RS, or Premier trim level. Whether you need to find an alternate route to work or school or want to take the family along on a summer road trip, connected navigation is a necessity.

A Power Liftgate

Speed and efficiency are critical ways for parents to make the most of fleeting minutes, and these are often squandered while loading or unloading kids and items. Sometimes, there’s inclement weather to deal with, and at other times, there’s a pressing time element, high emotions, or a greater load than you’re accustomed to.

Not to worry: to make your in-and-out routine easier, the Equinox is equipped with a power liftgate, so you don’t have to strain against a door when it rains or snows, your arms are full, or you’re fumbling with your keys. Swipe your foot under the rear bumper and the liftgate will open—hands-free, hassle-free. Sounds good, doesn’t it? The LT, RS, and Premier have this as a standard feature.

Driver Confidence II Package

Available on the LS, and standard on the LT, RS, and Premier, the Driver Confidence II Package adds even more safety features to boost the Equinox’s already impressive lineup. Depending on what trim level you ultimately go with, the package is a varied mix.

If you elect to add the package to the LS, you’ll get Rear Park Assist, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. If the LT, RS, or Premier are more your style, you’ll get Front Park Assist in addition to those previously-listed.

The Safety Alert Seat

Only standard on the Premier, the Safety Alert Seat seems the stuff of dreams; you can set the seat to alert you via beeping or vibrating when a dangerous encroachment is imminent. Left, right, or both under-thigh vibration nodes pair with the vehicle’s cameras to alert the driver to outside threats or upcoming situations that might prove difficult to navigate.

Live in a high-traffic area? Anxious about driving? Interested in another tool to prevent potential disasters? Then you’ll want to test out the Safety Alert Seat on the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox.

New Features for 2024

Some model years see a thorough refresh, from exterior to inner workings. In other years, there are hardly any changes at all; perhaps a few minor cosmetic changes to spice things up a little…

For 2024, the Equinox got some slight changes for the exterior and safety and driver assistance packages. The Driver Confidence II package, previously mentioned, added Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert. The other change made was the addition of two new colors: Riptide Blue Metallic and Lakeshore Blue Metallic.

Props to Chevy for only making improvements. As the old saying goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
