First Look At The All-New 2020 Cadillac CT4

With enhanced performance for an exhilarating ride like never before, the all-new 2020 Cadillac CT4 is expected to hit dealership lots early next year. Available in RWD and AWD, it offers drivers the agility and precision that is beyond comparison.

This entry-level luxury sedan is dripping with style and loaded with advanced features to make your driving experience like no other. Replacing the older ATS model, the 2020 CT4 will see significant enhancements to the mechanical systems, which leads to better overall performance.

Let’s take a closer look at this sharply styled ride.

Optimized Performance and Handling

There are two engine options for the new CT4, depending on which trim level you go with. The first is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 237 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. It is equipped with RWD and an 8-speed automatic transmission, but the estimated fuel economy specifications have not yet been released.

Stepping up to the Premium Luxury trim will get you a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 309 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque and is mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the CT4-V is equipped with the same engine and transmission, but it generates 325 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. This is mainly due to the other performance features that have been added to this trim.

Riding on 18-inch wheels with summer performance tires, the CT4-V is fitted with a limited-slip rear differential and Brembo front brakes with four-piston calipers. Its perfect 50/50 weight distribution gives you the ultimate feeling of balance and control. This means that you can expect excellent handling from this beauty in sharp corners and turns.

All of the CT4 models can be equipped with AWD as well.

Slipping Behind the Wheel

Once you slip behind the wheel of this luxury sedan, you will be transported into a world of sophistication and grace. With eight different colors and accent combinations to choose from, you can tailor the cabin to suit your own personal style. The use of attractive, high-quality materials inside will certainly not disappoint.

This model will also be loaded with Cadillac’s state-of-the-art technology for your convenience and entertainment. The old, touch-sensitive interface from the ATS has been replaced by a user-friendly interface that makes it easy to complete certain tasks while keeping your eyes on the road. This system will be compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless music and app integration and streaming. Of course, Bluetooth connectivity will enable hands-free calling so you can stay in touch with loved ones, friends, and co-workers everywhere you go.

As for safety, the 2020 Cadillac CT4 will most likely come with the works. You can expect to see advanced features such as blindspot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, pre-collision warning, automatic high beams, and emergency braking. All of the cutting-edge systems are meant to function in unison to prevent accidents on the road. The rearview camera will help with parallel parking on busy streets and backing out of tight or crowded spots. You won’t have to worry about fender benders or dinging your new luxury ride.

New Electrical Architecture

There is another advanced feature that Cadillac fans have been chomping-at-the-bit to see for a while now. It’s the new Tesla-style Over-the-Air updates system. With the capability of managing 4.5 terabytes of data processing power per hour, this system is meant to provide the necessary speeds for enhanced infotainment functionality. It can even process over-the-air software updates, which can be handy for vehicles that have navigation systems with traffic updates. This highly-advanced technology is designed to increase the car’s efficiency and keep your systems updated in a timely fashion.

GM is expected to have this electrical architecture in place across all new vehicles by 2023.

While this may raise security concerns for some, it is worth mentioning that GM has already unleashed the Bug Bounty program. This is part of a worldwide product cybersecurity organization that hunts down any potential security breaches or cyber threats to the system. So, if the system is vulnerable in any way, there is already a team of experts on top fixing any issues.

Super Cruise Technology

Another new advancement in the auto industry is the introduction of Super Cruise. This is the world’s first true hands-free highway-friendly driver assistance feature, and it is expected to be available on the 2020 CT4.

Super Cruise works in unison with adaptive cruise control to take over acceleration and braking functions. Using GPS, OnStar, LiDAR mapping, radar sensors, and cameras, this system works by detecting curves in the road. It is meant to provide you with an enhanced driving experience, making your commute to work easier and more relaxing. It is important to note that the system will not work if Teen Driver is activated.

In order to get the best out of this advanced feature, you should be sure that the route you are taking is compatible with the system. Lane markings should be clearly visible, and the radar sensors and camera should not be covered. With over 200,000 miles of compatible highways, you can find a route that is complementary to your destination.

Super Cruise also comes with head tracking software that detects when the driver is not paying enough attention to the road. Just because this system is meant to make driving easier, that doesn’t mean that you can respond to messages or scroll social media.

If the system determines that you are not paying attention, the steering wheel will light up in green to prompt you to look at the road again. If you do not take action, the light will change to red, and the driver’s seat will begin to vibrate. This is quite helpful if you accidentally fall asleep at the wheel. If no action is taken at this stage, the vehicle will slow down and eventually come to a complete stop.

Exterior Styling

Now that we’ve covered most of the new technological advancements, let’s take a look at the exterior styling. A beauty inside and outside, the 2020 Cadillac CT4 gives off an athletic appearance that doesn’t skimp on luxury. You will certainly turn a few heads when you drive down the street in this sophisticated ride. Its sharp, aggressive lines are stunning and even have an aerodynamic function. You will be slicing through the air like a hot knife through butter.

The wheelbase is 89.6-inches (7.5 feet), and the overall length of the vehicle is measured at 187.2-inches (15.6 feet). With a size just right for a luxury sedan and plenty of performance to feel sporty, the CT4 is a great option in the Cadillac lineup for 2020.
